Tonight at 8, American Experience looks back at one of the more disturbing moments in U.S. history, the My Lai Massacre.

On Tuesday, Frontline wades into the battle between the medical community and parents over the safety of vaccines for children.

On Wednesday, Louisiana Public Square (7PM) looks at the increasingly contentious relationship between the two political parties both nationally and in Louisiana. Panelists include Bob Mann, Senior Fellow, LSU Reilly Center and former Communications Director for Gov. Kathleen Blanco; Louisiana Republican Party Vice Chair Charlie Buckels; Louisiana Democratic Party Vice Chair Michael McHale; and Sally Nungesser, political consultant to Republican candidates. At 8, Great Performances has a new production of Shakespeare’s Hamlet featuring Captain Picard himself, Sir Patrick Stewart.

On Friday at 7, get a wrap-up of the week’s events at the Louisiana Legislature on Louisiana: The State We’re In and daily weekday updates on Capitol Beat at 6:57 and 9:57PM and mornings at 5:26 during the session.

On Sunday at 8, Detective Foyle is back with a new series of mysteries on Masterpiece and Life on Mars (10PM) looks at a mysterious death on a soccer field.

ONLINE BIDDING FOR THE LPB ART AND TRAVEL AUCTION KICKS OFF MAY 1

LPB Visit the LPB website starting Saturday, May 1 to check out all of the great art up for bid in this year’s auction. If you would like to see the art in person, head out to the Louisiana State Museum on Saturday, May 1 from 4-6PM for ART ROCKS!, the preview party for this year’s auction.

The artwork will be on display until May 7 at the museum and you can check it out and bid on the artwork online anytime starting Saturday. All proceeds go to purchase and create the programming on LPB. Also, visit the Friends booth at Fest-For-All to see what our talented artists can create from old film reels.

YOUNG HEROES HONORED

LPB LPB and the Rotary Club of Baton Rouge honored eight outstanding young people on Wednesday. This year’s eight honorees were particularly inspiring as their stories of public service and overcoming adversity touched everyone in attendance at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Baton Rouge. BAKER TEACHER WINS NATIONAL PBS AWARD

LPB Louisa Hodges, a teacher at Bethany Christian School in Baker, has been selected as one of the Top Ten Award recipients of the PBS Teacher® Innovation Awards. Louisa’s entry was selected from nearly 700 online entries. The winners were selected for the innovations they submitted, qualifying them to provide models of best practices for educators across the country.

Louisa will receive a free trip to the PBS Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas in May where she will discuss ways to connect innovative stations and classrooms with the PBS Education Staff. Louisa’s winning entry is featured in an online gallery .
