Nominate an outstanding young person in grades 7-12 who has excelled in the classroom, served their community, inspired others or overcome adversity for the 2010 Louisiana Young Heroes Awards. EMMA DISCUSSION
Join us for a discussion about the new Masterpiece production of Jane Austen’s Emma on Tuesday at 7 at the Citiplace Barnes & Noble in Baton Rouge. Our guest speaker will be LSU English professor Dr. Elsie Michie from the Dickens Project. The evening begins at 6:30 with a performance by the Louisiane Vintage Dancers at 6:30. Our new transmitter for KLTS-TV18 in the Lake Charles area is up and running, almost tripling the power for LPB’s signal in Southwest Louisiana. Viewers who have had difficulty or have been unable to receive KLTL using an antenna since the digital transition should rescan the channels on their TV or their digital converter box to see if they can receive the new stronger signal. LPB LAUNCHES PBS KIDS GO!® WRITERS CONTEST
The PBS KIDS GO! Writers Contest is now underway. It encourages children in grades K-3 in Louisiana to celebrate the power of creating stories and illustrations by submitting their own original stories and illustrations to LPB, which will select winners and award prizes.
First place local winners will be entered into the national level of the contest. Winners will be announced and national prizes, including laptops, digital cameras and MP3 players will be awarded in summer 2010. Applications and additional information are available on LPB's website. The deadline for entries is April 5, 2010.
