Tonight at 8:30, Emmy-winning producer Charlie Whinham looks at the history of one of our state’s most beloved buildings when Castle on the Hill: Louisiana’s Old State Capitol premieres.

On Tuesday at 7, join us for Rock, Pop and Doo Wop, a great night of the music of the 50s and 60s. Your support can get you tickets to our great December concert at the LSU Union Theatre featuring Gene “Duke of Earl” Chandler, Shirley Austin Reeves of the Shirelles, Carl Gardner’s Coasters, the Chiffons and Baton Rouge’s own Jimmy “Just A Dream” Clanton. You can see everyone but Chandler in this special.

On Wednesday at 7PM, world-renowned health and diabetes expert Dr. Neil Barnard will be live in the LPB studios to introduce two of his specials.

On Thursday, we have the Beatles, the Stones, the Doors and many more on Ed Sullivan’s Rock ‘n Roll Classics at 7PM.

On Saturday at 8PM, we have Les Miserables 25th Anniversary Concert at the O2.

On Sunday at 6 and 8PM, we have two episodes of the acclaimed Masterpiece series Downton Abbey.

JOIN FRIENDS FOR A VERY SPECIAL HOLIDAY DOO WOP CONCERT

LPB Start your holiday season with a great night of music when Friends of LPB hosts a Doo Wop Christmas Concert on Saturday, December 3 at the LSU Union Theatre. Featured performers include Gene “Duke of Earl” Chandler, The Coasters (“Yakkety Yak”), The Chiffons (“One Fine Day”), Shirley Alston Reeves, the former lead singer of the Shirelles, and Baton Rouge’s own Jimmy Clanton. Your pledge of support for LPB can get you great tickets for this concert when Rock, Pop and Doo Wop airs Tuesday, June 7 at 7PM, Friday, June 10 at 9:30PM and Saturday, June 11 at 2PM. Check out all of the performers except Gene Chandler during this program.

JULY 15TH IS THE DEADLINE TO CONTRIBUTE ART TO THE LPB ART & TRAVEL AUCTION

LPB Are you a sculptor, painter or photographer? Do you want statewide publicity for your artwork, on-air and online?

Friends of LPB is seeking creative types to be a part of the 2011 LPB Art & Travel Auction, which will be held Sunday, October 23rd. Art works donated for the auction will be on exhibit at the Louisiana State Museum in downtown Baton Rouge, September 30th through October 15th. The Preview Party and Opening Reception, LPB Art Rocks, will be held from 7 to 9PM on Friday, September 30th. For more information call Kate Bradshaw at (225) 767-4289, or go to the website.

LPB LPB is making it easy to follow what is happening at the Legislature. Capitol Beat has a wrap-up of the day’s events at the Louisiana Legislature every weekday at 6:57 and 9:57PM and mornings at 5:27AM on LPB-HD; 8:58 PM & 10:58 PM on LPB2; and 7:57 PM on LPB3 when the Louisiana Legislature is in session. If you miss the broadcasts, you can watch it online at www.lpb.org. Just click on the Capitol Beat icon on the main page of the website and select the newscast you want to see. It is also available for download on iPhones and iPads. Louisiana: The State We’re In looks at the important issues of the week on Friday at 7 and Sunday at 2PM. LaTV provides live coverage of the House and Senate proceedings from 2:00-6:00PM each weekday (Check your local cable for the LaTV channel in your area.)
