LPB

Only two more days to go in our membership campaign and things are going pretty well. If you haven’t joined Friends of LPB or your membership is up for renewal, please pledge during the campaign because we are facing some serious budget cuts in the next few years and we need your support.

Tonight at 7, it is truly Great Performances with Michael Bublé Meets Madison Square Garden , as the crooner sings some great old standards and new music from his Crazy Love CD. That’s followed by Celtic Thunder: That’s Entertainment at 8:30, a new special from the Irish group.

On Tuesday, we will have encore showings of Forever LSU at 7, Eddie Robinson: A Life Celebrated at 8:30 and Against the Tide at 10PM.

On Wednesday, we get back to regular programming with the March Edition of Louisiana Public Square. This month’s discussion is about the future of higher education in our state. That’s followed by 8 by Great Performances: Dance In America and Great Performances at the Met.

On Thursday, Sherlock Holmes tries to solve the case of The Man with the Twisted Lip.

On Sunday at 8, swashbuckling hero Richard Sharpe (Sean Bean) tries to quash a rebellion in India on Masterpiece.

LPB AND CARENCRO HIGH WIN NATIONAL AWARD

LPB and the Academy of Information Technology at Carencro High were honored with a My Source Education Innovation Award from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting on Saturday in Washington, D.C.

The My Source Education Innovation Awards recognize and showcase how public broadcasting stations and their community partners use pioneering approaches and emerging digital technologies to serve the educational needs of their communities on-air, online and in the classroom.

LPB has partnered with Carencro High School's Academy of Information Technology (AOIT) and the Bay Area Video Coalition (BAVC) to conduct youth-generated public media experiments over a high-speed fiber optic network. During their virtual collaboration, the youth presented digital media projects they'd created, ranging from environmentally conscious video games to 3-D visualizations for their future workspaces.
