LPB

Everyone’s attention is on the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. LPB and public broadcasting are keeping an eye on events as they happen. For updates and to share your stories, pictures and videos, visit our Crisis in the Gulf section of the LPB website.

I can’t believe it’s May already. Tonight at 7, Antiques Roadshow continues its stay in Phoenix; American Experience reexamines the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King at 8; and there’s an encore showing of LPB’s award-winning documentary Signpost to Freedom: The 1953 Baton Rouge Bus Boycott at 9:30PM.

On Tuesday at 7, NOVA looks at what has happened to the area around Mt. St. Helens since the eruption 30 years ago.

On Wednesday at 8, Live from Lincoln Center features violinist Itzhak Perlman, cellist Yo-Yo Ma and pianist Emanuel Ax in concert.

On Thursday at 8, everyone thought Sherlock Holmes was dead but he returns to sleuth again.

Check out the latest news from the legislative session on Louisiana: The State We’re In on Fridays at 7PM and Sundays at 2PM and weekdays on Capitol Beatat 6:57 and 9:57PM and mornings at 5:26. Also on Friday, we premiere a new PBS public affairs show called Need to Know at 8:30PM and air the McLeod Lecture Series discussion about the effect of the Right to Work Law on the state at 9:30. That’s followed by Frost/Nixon: The Original Watergate Interviews at 10:30PM.

LPB ART ROCKS!

LPB As usual, we had a great time at the Art Rocks! celebration to kick off the LPB Art & Travel Auction at the Louisiana State Museum. The 195 pieces of art in this year’s auction will be on display at the museum through May 7. If you can’t make it down there, visit the LPB website to see what’s up for bids. You can enter a bid for your favorite item and if there is something you just can’t live without, use the “buy it now” option to insure you have just the piece you want. The bidding will continue through the three-hour live auction show on Sunday, June 13 starting at 6PM.

There’s still time to get your raffle ticket for a 2010 G&C Honda Metropolitan Scooter. Tickets are $5 each with all proceeds going to support programming on LPB. The drawing will be held during the live broadcast. For more information or to order tickets, please call Lisa Green at (225) 767-4462.
