We hope you had a great Memorial Day. We are continuing our salute to veterans tonight with an encore showing of Mon Cher Camarade (8PM), Pat Mire’s documentary about the contributions of Cajun soldiers during World War II, and Louisiana’s World War II Experience at 9.

On Tuesday, we have the premiere of the two-night series For the Love of Liberty: The Story of America’s Black Patriots at 8. The final episode is Wednesday at 8PM.

On Saturday, we begin a mini-membership campaign which runs through Sunday, June 13. Saturday highlights include an episode of The National Parks at 12:30, Louisiana Parks: Our Natural Treasures at 2:30 and Civil War at 4PM. We also have a Lawrence Welk special at 6, Life Lessons from Onslow: A Keeping Up Appearances Special at 9 and music legends Carole King and James Taylor at 10:30.

Sunday starts at 9AM with Tackling Diabetes with Dr. Neal Bernard and the return of a popular favorite Anne of Green Gables from 1PM to 6PM.

World renowned physician, world renowned psychiatrist, brain imaging specialist and best-selling author Dr. Daniel Amen will be live in the LPB studios Sunday night from 6 to 10PM to discuss his Magnificent Mind at Any Age and Change your Brain, Change your Body programs. Dr. Amen will also be holding a seminar from 3:00-5:00PM at the BREC Theatre at Independence Parks in Baton Rouge where he will explain how boosting your brainpower can improve your weight, skin, heart, energy, and focus.

Red, White and Bublé Contest

LPB LPB is launching a Michael Bublé Trivia Contest that could win you Michael’s new CD Crazy Love or tickets to his sure to be sold out concert at the New Orleans Arena on July 14. For the next six weeks, the LPB website will feature trivia questions about Michael, LPB and Independence Day. If you answer the question correctly, your name will go into the weekly drawings for a free CD. Everyone who answers correctly will also be entered into the Grand Prize Drawing for two tickets to the concert. That drawing will be July 6th. All entries must be submitted online.

If you are not counting on the luck of the draw to get your tickets, your contribution to Friends can get you great seats for the concert. Check out the Friends Box Office or watch Michael Bublé meets Madison Square Garden on Sunday at 10PM for more details.

LPB You could be the proud owner of a great piece of art at a great price. Visit the LPB Auction website (lpb.org/auction) to see the 195 pieces of art up for bid in this year’s LPB Art and Travel Auction. If you see something you like, put in a bid and if you really like it and are willing to pay the posted price, you can buy it now. Online bidding will continue through June 13th when the live auction show airs from 6:00-9:00PM.

You could also win an incredibly cute and energy efficient 2010 G&C Honda Metropolitan Scooterby purchasing a $5 raffle ticket.

See Tommy Emmanuel in Concert

LPB He’s been called the “best living acoustic guitar player in the world” and he’s coming to Baton Rouge on June 11. Friends has a limited number of tickets for guitar superstar Tommy Emmanuel’s concert at Istrouma Baptist Church in Baton Rouge.

Just visit the LPB website lpb.org/boxoffice to make your contribution and get tickets to see this guitar virtuoso and consummate showman.

If you are not familiar with Emmanuel, check out his Center Stage concert on LPB on Monday, June 7 and Wednesday, June 9 at 9:30 each night. In addition to tickets to his B.R. concert, we will also have two autographed guitars as thank-you gifts during the show.
