A MESSAGE FROM LPB PRESIDENT BETH COURTNEY
Dear Members: The recent controversy surrounding the firing of Juan Williams by National Public Radio (NPR) has created much confusion about public broadcasting in general. At LPB, we are in no way affiliated with NPR and do not hold the licenses for any public radio stations. We are responsible for public television in Louisiana, and we are members of PBS, an association of locally owned non/commercial TV stations. Mr. Williams was under contract to NPR as an analyst and was fired by them. We have interviewed Mr. Williams on his trips to Louisiana for a book tour and wish him well in his new position at Fox News. I certainly hope this incident will not be used as an excuse to harm LPB.

LPB AND PBS CONTENT NOW AVAILABLE FOR IPHONES AND IPADS
PBS has upgraded its website so that Apple users can now get content through their iPhones, iPods and iPads.
If you purchase these apps through Apple, you will be able to receive clips and entire programs of PBS shows such as Frontline, Nature, NOVA, Masterpiece, Antiques Roadshow, Need to Know, Secrets of the Dead, History Detectives, PBS NewsHour and performances from Austin City Limits. More than 300 different pieces of video content are currently available for viewing, and more will be continually added to the app:
In addition, PBS.org will automatically detect the geographic area where a user is located, and make available to them LPB schedules, local content, links to the station’s home page and more.
