Programming News:
Thanks to everyone who participated in the Art and Travel Auction over the weekend. The move to the fall is permanent so look for it next year in October. Tuesday at 7, NOVA has a special on the Chilean Mine rescue. At 9, Frontline examines the Gulf Oil Spill and BP’s history.
On Wednesday at 7, Louisiana Public Square looks at Immigration Reform and efforts to enact the controversial Arizona immigration law in Louisiana.
On Halloween Sunday, The Haunting of Louisiana (6PM) looks at some of the scary legends of the Bayou State. At 7, Nature looks at one of the world’s most mysterious birds when A Murder of Crows premieres. At 8, it’s the second Sherlock on Masterpiece Mystery! starring Benedict Cumberbatch. This episode is called The Blind Banker. At 9:30, it’s Things That Go Bump in the Night.
THE CAT IN THE HAT IS COMING!
Join Friends of LPB and The Cat in the Hat for A Cat in the Hat Christmas on Sunday, November 21 from 1:30-4:30PM at Christmas Forest on Old Scenic Hwy in Zachary.
There will be hayrides, inflatables, crafts and Red Barn Farm Tours will be out with some of their furry friends. Children can get their picture taken with The Cat and Santa Claus and families can choose and cut their own Christmas tree. LPB Kids Club members get a free picture with either The Cat or Santa.
Admission is $5 per person and families will receive a coupon for $10 off a membership to Friends of LPB. For tickets or more information, call Friends of LPB at (225) 767-4214. Tickets can be purchased on the day of the event. Information is also available online.

LPB is having a Halloween Costume Contest! Between now and 5 p.m. on Friday, October 29th, post your pictures of your family's Halloween costumes - anytime from the past 35 years - on LPB's Facebook page. If you aren't a "fan" of LPB on Facebook yet, go to www.facebook.com/lpb123 and click on "like." We will have a gallery of the pictures you post on LPB's web page and everyone can vote for their favorites! Three winners will get special LPB 35th anniversary prize packs! Let us see your costumes!
LET’S TALK SHERLOCK!
Do you love the classic Basil Rathbone and Jeremy Brett versions of Sherlock Holmes or the new Masterpiece Mystery! version set in modern times with Dr. Watson chronicling Holmes’s exploits on a blog? Come join the discussion on Thursday, November 4 at 6:30PM at the Citiplace Barnes & Noble in Baton Rouge. LSU Graduate Student Kris Mecholsky will be the guest speaker and will moderate the discussion. There will be free scones and coffee.
To get ready for the discussion, watch the new Sherlock mystery on October 31st at 8PM on LPB and the Jeremy Brett versions on Thursdays at 8PM or Saturdays at 6PM.

FRIENDS HAS TICKETS FOR 4TROOPS, VIDEO GAMES LIVE! AND MANNHEIM STEAMROLLER
Friends of LPB has your ticket for great concerts in November.
On November 13 at 7PM, Video Games Live will be at the Baton Rouge River Center with a concert featuring music from all the classic video games you love including Mario, Zelda, Sonic, Halo, Warcraft, Final Fantasy, God of War, Civilization, StarCraft and Guitar Hero.
On November 21, 4Troops will be in concert at the Manship Theatre in Baton Rouge. This group of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans sing pop and patriotic songs. There are still good tickets available for 2PM.
Mannheim Steamroller will bring its unique Christmas show to the Century Tel Arena in Bossier City on November 22, the Mahalia Jackson Theatre in New Orleans on November 24th and the Heymann Performing Arts Center in Lafayette on November 26th.
