Chef John Folse heads to the woods and the swamps for his new After The Hunt series which premieres Thursday at 7 and Saturday at 1PM. The first episode features some great duck recipes and interviews with Louisiana duck stamp program coordinator Larry Reynolds, award-winning duck stamp artist Tony Bernard and duck stamp collector Robert Walker. John also travels to Creole, Louisiana to visit the Grandview Lodge and cook Creole Braised Wood Duck with Mac Dupuis. Look for a special preview show for the series tonight at 9:30PM.

On Tuesday at 9, we will show one of our favorite documentaries Huey Long, produced by Ken Burns with help from LPB. Look for Ken’s new The Tenth Inning series about the modern era of baseball next Monday and Tuesday.

On Wednesday at 7, Louisiana Public Square discusses the charter schools. Are they the solution to some of our education problems or just another fad. Shauna Sanford hosts. At 8, Live from Lincoln Center features a performance by the New York Philharmonic.

The Folse premiere kicks off Thursday followed by Sherlock Holmes at 8 and Doc Martin at 9.

On Friday, Foreigner is on Soundstage at 10.

On Sunday, Nature travels to Cuba to examine its unique wildlife and a new Inspector Lewis looks at two murders tied to the department’s doctor on Masterpiece Mystery! at 8PM.

LOUISIANA: THE STATE WE’RE IN STARTS 34TH SEASON

LPB Louisiana’s only statewide newsmagazine, Louisiana: The State We’re In has started its 34th season. You can watch it Fridays at 7 and Sundays at 2PM or view segments from the show online.

Managing editor Charlie Whinham is now in his seventh year of anchoring the program while co-anchor/producer Shauna Sanford is in her second year.

“I am proud to be associated with a long-standing program like State We’re In which tells stories that mean something to people,” Sanford said. “I like the fact that we get a chance to cover it all: politics, controversial issues, the Legislature and stories like the oil spill that have a direct effect on people’s lives.”

Whinham says the biggest challenge with a major long-running story like the oil spill is to determine where the story will go next.

“Even though the well has been capped and the oil is no longer leaking out, the impact continues to be felt,” Whinham said. “We are committed to continue shining a light on the oil spill issues that South Louisiana will continues to face for years to come including the damage to the environment, the effect it has had on economy and the legal issues.”

One of the things that Whinham really enjoys is traveling the state and visiting with the people who make this state so unique for Louisiana: The State We’re In or his long-running Lost Louisiana series.
