This program will present the history and the beauty of the land and share in the excitement of those who cherish and preserve the remaining North American tourist steam railroads. Grammy award-winning musician and storyteller David Holt has been our host for Great Scenic Railway Journeys for over a decade. He is well known to Public Television audiences for his many specials and NPR programs. David is host of UNC-TV's "Folkways," NPR's "Riverwalk," and "Classic Jazz from the Landing," to name a few. Holt is dedicated to performing and preserving traditional American music and folk tales of our past.

Step with him back in time for the story of when steam power muscled its way though the steep, rugged terrain of the Alleghenies, the Rockies, the Sierras and onto the Great Plains and into the desert southwest.
