In 1992, Catherine Kitty Kimball became the first woman to be elected to the Louisiana Supreme Court. In January of 2009, the Alexandria native and LSU Law School graduate was the first woman to serve as Chief Justice on the court. She retired from the court this month.O. Delton Harrison Jr.

Paul Hilliard has been a very successful oil and gas producer for 58 years. Originally from Wisconsin, he has been a fixture in his adopted hometown of Lafayette since 1955. In addition to being a civic leader, Hilliard and his wife Lulu have been major patrons of the arts, helping establish the art museum on the University of Louisiana Lafayette campus that bears their name. He was honored with the Horatio Alger Award in 2009.Ellis Marsalis
Born in New Orleans, Ellis Marsalis has been a jazz musician and educator for more than half a century. A member of the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame, he has recorded 20 albums of his own and played on many other performer’s albums. The patriarch of the first family of Jazz, his sons Wynton, Branford, Delfeayo and Jason have all followed his footsteps and become accomplished musicians. In May, 2007, Marsalis received an honorary doctorate from Tulane University for his contributions to jazz and musical education.Glen Post
