This
module combines civic and environmental education into "civic environmentalism,"
where groups and individuals act to protect their environment by getting
involved in the legislative process. Students learn to: participate
in government, influence government, develop and evaluate laws, and
monitor government .

Environmental laws and regulations
protect human health, animals, plants, and natural resources. There
are many environmental, health, and community safety laws, policies
and regulations protecting people, land, water, plants and animals.
These laws, and others enacted by the Federal, State, and local governments,
have various requirements and are enforced by various agencies. State
and local governments also have some responsibility in regulating and/or
complying.
