A Taste Of The South

INGREDIENTS:


2-3 cups smoked sausage links (cut into rounds and fried)
2 Cups each: Chopped onion, celery, okra, bell pepper
2 qts. Canned or cooked chopped tomatoes
1 tsp dried parsley
3 T. Worcestershire sauce
4 beef or checken bouillon cubes or 2 tsp bouillon crystals
1 tsp onion salt
1 tsp garlic salt
2 Cups cooked chicken, turkey, or seafood
1 1/4 cups uncooked instant rice (Minute Rice)
Red Pepper flakes to taste
Filé powder for the table

METHOD:



Add first eleven ingredients to crockpot. Cook on medium for at least 8 hours. Taste and add salt if desired. Add uncooked rice, red pepper flakes, cooked chicken, turkey or seafood or to crock pot about 30 minutes before serving. Stir well when adding these ingredients. Allow meat to get hot and serve in a bowl as a soup or over rice as classic gumbo. Be sure to place Louisiana hot sauce on table for those who like their gumbo spicy.

Can also be put in the oven to slow cook.
