Lora Hammons
Teacher, Ruston High School

Lora Hammons is a teacher of English I and English II at Ruston High School. She has been at Ruston High School since the 1999-2000 school year. Hammons has been a teacher in the Freshmen Academy at RHS since its inception in 2008-09. Before teaching at RHS, she taught at Dubach High School and Mt. Vernon (TX) Junior High School.

She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Louisiana Tech University in 1987. She holds certification in English, journalism, and library science.

She was the Ruston High School teacher of the year in 2007-08.

Lora Hammons has four children: Hayden, a senior at LSU majoring in history; Ross, a junior at LSU majoring in political science; John Cullen, a senior at RHS; and Mary Conly a senior at RHS.
