Lieutenant Colonel Scott E. Adams enlisted in the Louisiana Army National Guard on 10 April 1986. He was assigned to HHC, 205th Engineer Battalion at Bogalusa, Louisiana. He rose to the rank of Sergeant and was later commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U. S. Army through the Reserve Officer Training Corps Program at Southeastern Louisiana University. While at SLU, Lieutenant Colonel Adams served as the Cadet Battalion Commander, and was a distinguished Military Graduate from the university.
In 2001, Lieutenant Colonel Adams was selected as the Executive Officer and full-time Administrative Officer of 1-156th Armor Battalion at Shreveport, Louisiana. In May of 2004, the Battalion was mobilized in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The unit served a one-year combat tour in Baghdad, Iraq with the 1st Calvary Division and the 3rd Infantry Division. On 15 November 2005, he took command of 1-156 Armor Battalion. The unit reorganized as 2/108 Cavalry Squadron on 3 September 2006. He was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel on 10 August 2006.
Lieutenant Colonel Adams holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Southeastern Louisiana University and a Masters Degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.
Lieutenant Colonel Adams' awards include the Combat Action Badge, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (with Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal (with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters), the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Louisiana War Cross, The Louisiana National Guard Legion of Merit and Louisiana National Guard Cross of Merit. In 2007, LTC Adams was awarded the BG Pauley Award, being recognized as the outstanding Battalion Commander in the 256th Infantry Brigade.
Lieutenant Colonel Adams is married to the former Mary Sue Main of Chalmette, Louisiana. They have one son Sean who is eleven. They reside in Haughton, Louisiana.
