Mary Washington
BESE member

Mary Washington, Lafayette, is a Math Lead Teacher with the Lafayette Parish School System where she coaches elementary math teachers. Washington was the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Louisiana Association of Educators from 1994 to 2000. She was an influential member of the task force that developed Louisiana’s school accountability program. Washington is a Cum Laude graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in 1977 and then her Masters of Education in 1986.
