A DOWNTON ABBEY PREVIEW, A BEHIND-THE-SCENES LOOK AT ANTIQUES ROADSHOW’S VISIT TO BATON ROUGE AND THE EFFORTS TO SAVE THE STATE’S BLACK BEARS HIGHLIGHT LPB PROGRAMMING FOR WINTERFEST 2013
Go behind the scenes of two of Louisiana Public Broadcasting’s most popular shows in December during LPB’s Winterfest Membership campaign. The money raised during the campaigns is used to purchase and create the programming which airs throughout the year on Louisiana’s public television network.
Academy Award-winning actress Susan Sarandon hosts Return to Downton Abbey. This special looks back at the first three seasons and previews the upcoming fourth season premiering January 5 at 8PM on LPB.
LPB takes you behind-the-scenes of Antiques Roadshow’s visit to Baton Rouge. It includes interviews with Roadshow host Mark L. Walberg and Executive Producer Marsha Bemko. The special also follows former LSU Professor Barbara Sims and her Sun Records collection, and former legislator Chuck McMains and his two British muskets, one of which may have been used in the Battle of New Orleans.
Generally acclaimed as the great tenor of our times, Great Performances: Pavarotti –A Voice for the Ages (Sunday, December 8 at 7:30PM) celebrates the 50th anniversary of the launch of Pavarotti’s of meteoric international career with some of his most memorable.
The next editions of Alive!: In America’s Delta Black Bear Comeback and Whooping Cranes’ Majestic Return premieres Monday, December 9 at 7PM. These two episodes produced by LPB look at the efforts to restore the black bear and whooping crane populations in the state. They also airs Sunday, December 15 starting at 5PM.
The Texas Tenors - You Should Dream (Wednesday, December 11 at 7PM) features the popular trio that combines country and classical music along with rock and pop to create a unique sound that appeals to both young and old. Highlights include their version of “God Bless the USA.”
