The Eddie G. Robinson Museum was dedicated on Saturday, February 13, at Grambling State University. Charlie Whinham will be covering Friday’s Banquet and Saturday’s dedication for “Louisiana: The State We’re In.” The story aired on Louisiana: The State We're In on Friday, February 19th. In addition, this is an element to a new LPB production called “Eddie Robinson: A Life Celebrated.”
“Eddie Robinson: A Life Celebrated” includes interviews with friends, family and former players of Coach Robinson as well as a tour of the newly opened Eddie G. Robinson Museum. Among some of the dignitaries scheduled to appear at the dedication include Super Bowl XLIII Champion coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers Mike Tomlin, Super Bowl XXII MVP and former Grambling quarterback Doug Williams, as well as Notre Dame Head Coach Brian Kelly.
The Eddie G. Robinson Museum is a landmark that officially recognizes the outstanding contributions to the state of Louisiana, the nation, and the game of football made by Coach Eddie G. Robinson. The Eddie G. Robinson Museum is located on the campus of Grambling State University where Coach Robinson achieved legendary status by becoming NCAA Division I football's all-time winningest coach.
Coach Robinson won 408 games at Grambling during a football coaching career that stretched from 1941-1997 and is the namesake for the Football Writers Association of America's National Coach of the Year Award. During his illustrious career, Coach Robinson won nine Black College National Championships and 17 Southwestern Athletic Conference championships. The College Football Hall of Fame inductee graduated over 80% of his players and saw more than 200 of his athletes play in the NFL, including four who are now enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
