Louisiana Public Broadcasting has launched a new section on its website (lpb.org/news) that will allow Internet users to access the latest state, local and international news on one site.
In addition to LPB’s award-winning programs Louisiana: The State We’re In and Louisiana Public Square, the LPB News Desk also provides access to two LPB affiliated news consortiums: GulfWatch and the Southern Regional Education Desk, which provide news from PBS affiliates in the Southern states.
The LPB News Desk also allows users to link to the National Public Radio site and Louisiana public radio affiliates WRKF in Baton Rouge, Red River Radio in Shreveport and WWNO in New Orleans. All seven of the state’s largest newspapers also have links on the page including: The Advocate in Baton Rouge, Alexandria Town Talk, Daily Advertiser in Lafayette, Lake Charles American Press, Monroe News-Star, The Times in Shreveport and the Times-Picayune in New Orleans.
“It gives Internet users one-stop shopping for the news they want to see,” said LPB President/CEO Beth Courtney. “We feel that it is an easy way for the public to stay informed without having to search around the Internet.”
