LPB TO AIR CC’73: REVISITING THE 1973 LOUISIANA CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION »»»

  • SATURDAY, DECEMBER 14 AT 7PM ON LPB2
On Jan. 5, 1973, 132 men and women gathered in Baton Rouge to begin the work of rewriting Louisiana's antiquated 1921 constitution. They would complete their work a year later on Jan. 16, 1974. They presented the voters with the constitution we now have today. Forty years later, CC ’73: Revisiting the 1973 Louisiana Constitutional Convention features a conversation with several of the leaders and delegates of that constitutional convention. It premieres Saturday, December 14 at 7PM on LPB 2 with an encore showing on Sunday, December 14 at 4PM on that channel. The program can also be viewed at:http://video.lpb.org/.

Panelists included former Governors Edwin Edwards and Buddy Roemer, former Speaker of the House E.L. “Bubba” Henry, Former State Representative Woody Jenkins Judge James Dennis of the U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals and current State Senate President John Alario. LPB President Beth Courtney moderated the discussion.
