Fifteen chefs from around the country squared off in August to see who is the best seafood cook in the land at the seventh annual Great American Seafood Cook-Off in New Orleans. Highlights from the event will air on LPB on Friday, November 5 @ 9:30pm and Saturday, November 20 @ 3:00pm.
The chefs had one hour to prepare their best seafood recipe using the seafood indigenous to their home state.
This year’s event was co-hosted by Emmy-winning wildlife conservationist Jeff Corwin, host of Animal Planet’s Jeff Corwin Experience and Food Network’s Extreme Cuisine, and Cajun and Creole Chef John Folse, whose new series Chef John Folse: After the Hunt airs Thursdays at 7PM and Saturdays at 1:30PM on LPB.
The competition was taped on August 8 & 9 in conjunction with the Louisiana Foodservice EXPO at the Ernest J. Morial Convention Center. The program was underwritten by the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
