Louisiana Public Broadcasting will air highlights from the 2012 Great American Seafood Cook-Off on Monday, November 12 at 9PM on the six-channel LPB network.
Sixteen chefs from around the country prepared their best seafood dishes in this competition in New Orleans in August. The chefs’ recipes had to include seafood that is indigenous to their state in their recipes. Keith Frentz, owner and executive chef of LOLA in Covington, was Louisiana’s representative at the event. Also participating in the event were chefs from Alabama, Alaska, Florida, Hawaii, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Mississippi, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.
Sig Hansen of “Deadliest Catch” was master of ceremonies along with Chef Cory Bahr of Monroe and Ewell Smith of the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board. The event is sponsored by the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and presented by the Louisiana Seafood Promotion & Marketing Board.
