Saving Louisiana; 1973 Constitutional Convention; A Rural Life Christmas
Saving Louisiana (1:13) The man credited with restoring order to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina says he will fight through blood, sweat and tears to improve the state’s environment. Retired Lt. General Russell Honore is leading the Green Army. He and Marylee Orr with LEAN and Sandy Rosenthal, founder of Levees.org, will join Shauna Sanford to talk about the General’s call to action, the status of the lawsuit against 97 oil companies and environmental legislation that they are going to pursue during the legislative session. 1973 Constitutional Convention (20:29) It has been 40 years since Louisiana’s 1973 Constitutional Convention. Decisions were made then that still greatly affect the state today. LSU recently commemorated the event. LPB’s Beth Courtney moderated a panel that included former governors, state lawmakers and delegates. One hot topic discussed was whether it’s time for a new constitution. SHARE
A Rural Life Christmas (22:31) Charlie Whinham takes us back in time to all the sights, sounds and trimmings of a 19th century Christmas. It’s an annual tradition at the LSU Rural Life Museum visited by thousands each year. SHARE
