And it’s LPB’s Prescription for Health with Dr. Rani Whitfield. The holiday season is here and there are lots of ways to stay healthy even with all of the tempting cuisine around.
Staying Fit During the Holidays
1) HAM PEAS
a. Hydrate well – Not with alcoholic beverages, but with water or no- or low-calorie beverages
b. Avoid the food table – Especially those with heavy creams and cheeses – eat the fruits and vegetables
c. Moderation – Eat in moderation. Have sweet, tasty morsels, but not in excess.
d. Prepare --Eat before a holiday event. Bring a healthy dish you like.
e. Exercise -- Continue to exercise through the holidays. October through Mardi Gras is a key period.
f. Save – Take a favorite dish home and enjoy it in moderation at home.
