What began as a 12-year-old Baton Rouge girl’s request to see her grandfather’s grave has unveiled the story of a WWII hero and more. Marine Cpl. James W. Green died in 1974. But this week Green was honored with the nation’s highest civilian honor, the Congressional Gold Medal. Charlie Whinham explains how a family uncovered his story this summer.
