After promising to buyout residents forced from their homes because of 15-acre sinkhole, Texas Brine is not going to make any offers. Now Governor Bobby Jindal is having the company investigated to determine if it can continue operating in the state. Shauna Sanford has the update.
This Week at the Capitol
NW Louisiana Senator Robert Adley is gaining praise and criticism for going around the Board of Regents in order to secure 250-million dollars for 28 projects for the state’s Technical and Community College System. Lawmakers debate the MFP, or minimal foundation program, which is the amount of money the state determines per public school student. Charlie Whinham recaps this week at the Capitol.
Medicaid Expansion Debate
Should Louisiana expand Medicaid benefits to subsidize national health coverage or not? Governor Bobby Jindal has chosen to opt out of the program citing Louisiana would pay up to $1.7 billion over the next ten years.
